interesting, but there is no one central leading figure in our field at this time. And that is of course characteristic of the change that’s going on. There’s kind of eternal glasnost in the academy where multiple ideologies are struggling for higher ground, and pluralism which considers these multiple approaches is also a viable ideology or mind set. And so Marshall has a place on the shelf, you might say, his book is still there, but his canon of books doesn’t hide the others that exist. Q: You worked with McLuhan for a time. How would you describe him as a person?
